A 20 year old, female campaign staffer for John McCain was mugged and the letter “B” was cut into her face while at an ATM in Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

WTAE TV in Pittsburgh has more details on the appalling attack.

A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.

Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.

John McCain staffer attacked by Obama supporter

This is just the latest attack of a male Obama supporter on a female McCain supporter. Last month, a “small, quiet, middle-aged woman wearing glasses” in New York City was attacked while campaigning for McCain.

Concerns Over Joe Biden and His Brain Aneurysms

October 23, 2008 · Filed Under Joe Biden · Comments

Joe Biden’s medical records were released earlier this week, but there was a noteworthy omission. There were no brain scans included with the records that were released, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Newly released medical records from vice presidential candidate Joe Biden do not include the results of any recent brain scans, which some experts consider necessary to assess whether the senator is at risk for a repeat of the brain aneurysms that nearly killed him 20 years ago.

Biden’s most recent physical exam in July showed him to be in good health, according to a letter from Dr. John Eisold that the campaign released Monday. The letter from Eisold, who is the attending physician for Congress, described Biden’s cardiac capacity as excellent.

But the 49 pages of records the campaign released gave no indication that Biden’s doctors sought follow-up tests after the serious aneurysms he suffered in 1988. Medical experts are divided over the need for such precautionary brain scans, but many feel it is the only way to be sure a patient is out of danger.

The mainstream media have repeatedly tried to cast doubt on John McCain’s health, despite the fact that he released more than 1,000 pages of medical records in May showing he is in good health.

I hope that Joe Biden is healthy and clear of the threat of further brain aneurysms, but we should know for sure.

Democrat Columnist Laments Liberal Bias in Journalism

October 23, 2008 · Filed Under Ethics · Comments

Orson Scott Card, Democrat and newspaper columnist, wrote an opinion piece on the sorry state of journalism and bias.

An open letter to the local daily paper — almost every local daily paper in America:

I remember reading All the President’s Men and thinking: That’s journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know.

This housing crisis didn’t come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush administration.

Card details the coverage of the financial crisis and commits heresy, by Democrat journalist standards, by stating the reality of the issue…

These are facts. This financial crisis was completely preventable. The party that blocked any attempt to prevent it was … the Democratic Party. The party that tried to prevent it was … the Republican Party.

He also touches on the slanted coverage of the candidates…

If you had any personal honor, each reporter and editor would be insisting on telling the truth — even if it hurts the election chances of your favorite candidate.

Because that’s what honorable people do. Honest people tell the truth even when they don’t like the probable consequences. That’s what honesty means . That’s how trust is earned.

Barack Obama is just another politician, and not a very wise one. He has revealed his ignorance and naivete time after time — and you have swept it under the rug, treated it as nothing.

Meanwhile, you have participated in the borking of Sarah Palin, reporting savage attacks on her for the pregnancy of her unmarried daughter — while you ignored the story of John Edwards’s own adultery for many months.

So I ask you now: Do you have any standards at all? Do you even know what honesty means?

It’s refreshing to read such an objective analysis, but pretty sad that it’s such a novel thing.
