There has been some, not a lot, of coverage in the mainstream media about Obama’s real estate scandal with Tony Rezko, but now stories are surfacing about a questionable mortgage arrangement.
Obama was a big critic of the Countrywide Financial Corp., who he labeled as “the people who are responsible for infecting the economy and helping to create a home foreclosure crisis,” at a town hall meeting in Lancaster, PA this past March.
Is something fishy about the Obama mortgage for the house he purchased in 2005?
Obama bought a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion after locking in an interest rate of 5.625 percent on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage from Northern Trust in Illinois.
This was below the average for such loans at the time in Chicago.
Interestingly, Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt admitted that “The Obamas have since had as much as $3 million invested through Northern Trust,” in a statement.
So, if Obama thought it was a “bone-headed mistake” to engage in a questionable real estate deal with Tony Rezko, who was convicted last month on 16 counts of fraud and money laundering, what is the story with this mortgage?
Another sweetheart deal for a mortgage like Chris Dodd got?
I’ve Got Disgust… for Obama
Music video response to “I’ve Got a Crush… on Obama” by the Obama Girl. An uplifting tune backed by bongo playing and timely lyrics about Presidential hopeful, Barack Obama.
Barack Obama: “Friends”
Barack Obama and friends are a sit com, right?
Barack Obama and Tony Rezko
What does it say about Barack Obama that he and Tony Rezko, convicted Wednesday of fraud and money laundering, are friends?
Obama Fundraiser Tony Rezko Guilty On 16 Of 24 Charges
Tony Rezko, a prominent fundraiser for Barack Obama, was convicted Wednesday of fraud and money laundering.
The jury found Rezko guilty on 16 of 24 charges after he schemed with the government’s star witness to get kickbacks out of money management firms wanting state business.
Obama’s buddy was acquitted him of some other charges, including attempted extortion.
Sentencing is set for September 3rd at 10 a.m. The maximum sentence he could face is 20 years in prison.
According to the CBS television station in Chicago, “Rezko has known Obama since he entered politics and was involved in a 2005 real estate deal with the Democratic presidential candidate.”
Obama has referred to his questionable real estate deal with Rezko as “a bone-headed mistake.”
That Obama has some crew of friends. At least he got a sweet house out of the Rezko deal, but at what price?
What About Your Friends, Obama?
There is an old saying, “Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are.” I think most anybody would say this is a truism, except hysterical Obama supporters.
When you look at some of the friends of Obama, there is Reverend Wright, who got quite a bit of attention for a time.
He’s an unapologetic racist and hate-monger.
And how about some of Barack Obama’s other pals, who haven’t gotten so much attention to date?
There is also Reverend James Meeks, who is a delegate pledged to Obama, and a Pastor with a penchant for racist rants.
William Ayers, 1960s-era radical and leader of the Weather Underground, is also cozy with Obama. Obama doesn’t think this should matter, because he was a wee youngster when Ayers was committing acts of domestic terrorism.
Back in January during a debate, Hillary Clinton mentioned Obama’s friend and renowned Chicago slumlord Tony Rezko.
Who else is out there?
For anybody keeping a tally, Obama’s friends include racist hate mongers, terrorists, and slumlords.
But he’s such an eloquent reader of speeches, so let’s make him President.
Obama’s Real Estate Scandal with Tony Rezko
Chicago’s NBC5 covers Barack Obama’s real estate scandal, and reports that Obama is going to great lengths to avoid reporters questions.
In sharp contrast to his tough talk about ethics reform in government, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., approached a well-known Illinois political fixer under active federal investigation, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, for “advice” as he sought to find a way to buy a house shortly after being elected to the United States Senate.
The parcel included an adjacent lot which Obama told the Chicago Tribune he could not afford because “it was already a stretch to buy the house.”
On the same day Obama closed on his house, Rezko’s wife bought the adjacent empty lot, meeting the condition of the seller who wanted to sell both properties at the same time.
Rezko had been widely reported to be under investigation by the U.S. attorney and the FBI at the time Obama contacted him and has since been indicted on corruption charges by a federal grand jury in a case that prosecutors say involves bribes, kickbacks and “efforts to illegally obtain millions of dollars.”
Obama called his decision to involve Rezko “a bone-headed mistake.” You think?
