Obama is trying to sell the story that Republicans are using scare tactics to dissuade people from voting for him.

Just like Obama did on Friday, June 20 at a Florida fund-raiser, Barack Obama proclaimed that Republicans will make the Presidential contest about race.

Despite the fact that race hasn’t played a role in the McCain campaign, Obama continues to cry wolf.

“Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name, you know, he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”

Aside from the gaffe where Obama seems to think more than one president is on dollar bills (note to Obama supporters, only George Washington is on dollar bills), he’s playing the race card with his invented scenario about McCain comparing his look to George Washington and all the other presidents on dollar bills.

The Dollar Bills

Maybe Obama isn’t talking about race when says “he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”

Is it the powdered wig thing that sets him apart? The male pattern baldness on George? Maybe the frilly shirt he is wearing in the portrait?

Obama Lies about being on the Banking Committee

July 23, 2008 · Filed Under Economy, Gaffe ·

Oops, he did it, again. Today Barack Obama falsely claimed to be on the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

While Obama was at a press conference in Sderot, Israel, he told this tall tale

“Just this past week, we passed out of the out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee - which is my committee - a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.”

Just one problem with that statement… he’s not on that committee.

What in the world will Barack Obama say tomorrow on his international gaffe tour?

Obama: Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s

July 23, 2008 · Filed Under Foreign Policy, Gaffe, Israel ·

There he goes again, that silly Barack Obama.

While speaking to the press yesterday in Amman, Jordan, Obama meant to convey that the United States would continue to strongly support Israel.

But he seemed to get mixed up when he articulated it:

“Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s.”

Maybe the script from Obama’s 300 foreign policy advisors had a typo?

According to the Seattle Times, aides said he had intended to say that the United States was a strong friend of Israel.

What will the confused, gaffe-prone Obama say next?

Obama to Repeal 22nd Amendment?

July 22, 2008 · Filed Under Foreign Policy, Gaffe, News ·

This past weekend on Face the Nation, Barack Obama explained why he is traveling through the Middle East and Europe…

“The objective of this trip was to have substantive discussions with people like President Karzai or Prime Minister Maliki or President Sarkozy or others who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years.

And it’s important for me to have a relationship with them early, that I start listening to them now, getting a sense of what their interests and concerns are.”

Eight to 10 years, Obama? Let me see here… a U.S. President serves a term of four years and they can be re-elected just once.

4 + 4 = 8

That’s the rule according to the Twenty-second Amendment (Amendment XXII) of the United States Constitution, at least, which sets a term limit for the President of the United States.

Maybe Obama hopes he can change that silly rule, or even more alarming is the prospect that he is not aware of the 22nd Amendment.

I would suggest that Obama take one of his 300 foreign policy advisors and assign them to helping him brush up on the Constitution.

Legislative Accomplishments of Barack Obama

July 15, 2008 · Filed Under Gaffe, News ·

On February 19, 2008, Texas State Senator Kirk Watson appeared via live feed on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews as a supporter of Senator Obama, whom Watson had endorsed.

Matthews asked Watson to name one of Senator Obama’s legislative accomplishments, which left Watson tongue-tied.

This led Matthews to respond, “You’ve supported him for president, you’re on national television, name his legislative accomplishments, Barack Obama’s, sir.”

After Watson had left the show, Matthews went on to say, “He [Watson] is here to defend Barack Obama and he had nothing to say; that’s a problem.”

Wait one second… it’s not enough to just say “Change We Can Believe In” over and over?

Michelle Obama is Out of Touch

July 12, 2008 · Filed Under Gaffe, Michelle Obama ·

Democrats are quick to dismiss the criticism that they are a party of elitists. They try really hard with stunts like Obama going to the bowling alley and rumors that Team Obama will sponsor a car in NASCAR.

But they just can’t seem to get away from their true selves.

Earlier this week, Obama explained how he is embarrassed that “we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup.”

Yeah, that’s a typical vacation for the American family… the jaunt to Paris.

On July 9, 2008 in Pontiac, MI, Michelle Obama shared a “joke” with the audience:

“You’re getting $600 - what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill every month.”

“The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings.”

What can you do with $600? Really?

According to the USDA, the typical U.S. household spent $41.67 per person each week for food.

So, that silly little $600 could cover a month of food for many families of four, Michelle.

The Obama campaign insists her comment was a joke.

For some reason, I don’t think people that are struggling to meet their bills are in on that joke.

Jesse Jackson Wants to Cut Obama’s Nuts Off

July 9, 2008 · Filed Under Gaffe, News ·

Jesse Jackson supporting Barack ObamaJesse Jackson was caught on camera making a remark that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is “talking down to black people.”

He went on to say, “I want to cut his nuts off.”

Jackson quickly issued an apology, but I’d say he isn’t likely to be invited over for dinner at the Obama house any time soon.

UPDATE: the first version of the video I posted is “no longer available” on YouTube, but I found another and replaced it.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Obama: “Nein”

July 9, 2008 · Filed Under Foreign Policy, Gaffe ·

John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton have spoken on the square in front of Brandenburg Gate in Germany.

Barack Obama would like to be the first presumptive party nominee to do the same.

But that’s not going to happen if German Chancellor Angela Merkel has anything to say about it.

She referred to the request by Barack Obama to give a speech before the Brandenburg Gate as “inappropriate”, according to her deputy spokesman.

“It is unusual to do electioneering abroad. It is unusual to hold election rallies abroad. No German candidate for high office would even think of using the National Mall (in Washington) or Red Square in Moscow for a rally because it would not be seen as appropriate,” stated spokesman Thomas Steg.

Indeed.

Freedom of Flip Flop

July 4, 2008 · Filed Under Gaffe, Iraq, John McCain, Opinion ·

Remember that Barack Obama who ran hard during the Democratic primary with the commitment to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq over 16-months?

Well, he’s thinking about “refining” that plan.

When he makes a Mideast trip this summer, he says “I am going to do a thorough assessment when I’m there.”

So now that he’s starting to learn more about what’s happening in Iraq, he might be changing his 16-month troop withdrawal timetable?

He went on to say, “I’m sure I’ll have more information and continue to refine my policy” and that he is going to “continue to gather information to see whether those conditions still hold” for withdrawing the troops within 16 months.

It’s almost as if he didn’t examine the issue previously. Can the country afford to have somebody who is so behind on the learning curve?

Not to mention, is there any issue where Obama hasn’t flip flopped, yet?

No American Should be Punished with a Baby

June 30, 2008 · Filed Under Ethics, Gaffe ·

“I’ve got two daughters, nine years old and six years old. I’m going to teach them, first of all, about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”
