Obama Bait and Switch on Taxes

Oops, he did it again. Joe Biden either made the latest in a long list of gaffes or displayed some honesty regarding the real plans by Barack Obama for tax cuts.

In a television interview in Scranton, PA yesterday, Biden referred to people who make $150,000 a year as those who should be getting tax breaks.

“What we’re saying is, that $87 billion tax break doesn’t need to go to people making an average of $1.4 million. It should go to middle-class people, people who make $150,000 a year.”

So, would taxes go up for those making more than $150,000 under Obama? The campaign denies a revision in the figure, but Joe Biden seems to be unclear about it.

I wonder what Obama thinks - was this a rhetorical flourish or an inartful comment, or perhaps Biden just forget which parts of the tax plan are supposed to be secret for now.

Considering that Obama once voted for a Democratic budget bill which would raise taxes on a taxpayer making $42,000 a year, I’d expect the income for those who receive tax breaks to continue to go down.

After all, it’s not feasible to reduce taxes for most of the folks paying income tax, give a welfare check to the more than a third of workers not paying income tax, and increase spending dramatically.
