Obama Makes an Inartful Non-Comment

August 20, 2008 · Filed Under Ethics, Healthcare ·

The Barack Obama campaign tries to characterize his gaffes as inartful comments, but what do you call it when it says something dopey and doesn’t even say anything?

This past weekend, Obama was chatting with Reverend Rick Warren and he had this to say in response to when a baby gets human rights…

“Well, uh, you know, I think that whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or, uh, a scientific perspective, uh, answering that question with specificity, uh, you know, is, is, uh, above my pay grade.”

Now, aside from the fact that Obama is hugely overrated for his speaking skills, he simply doesn’t answer a clear question.

Obama clearly has opinions on abortion, based on his voting record, so why is he evading the question here?

He doesn’t really think he can fool all of the people all of the time, does he?

“I’ve got two daughters, nine years old and six years old. I’m going to teach them, first of all, about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”
