Obama’s Legacy as a Community Organizer
Barack Obama often refers to his days as a “community organizer” in Chicago. But what did he do there?
One area where he focused was Grove Parc in Chicago. In addition to his work as a community organizer, Obama spent four years in a law firm offering neighborhood economic development, as well as eight years as Grove Parc’s Representative in the Illinois State Senate, and his US Senate term to date.
23 years after Obama started helping the neighborhood, it’s said that “it’s not safe to live here.”
Grove Parc was Obama’s proving ground, and after all of his TLC, it remains a symbol of blight.
If he can’t change a neighborhood over a couple decades, how can he change a country in four years?
Obama’s Ludacris Politics
The eleventh installment of RedHatBlueHat featured Mike Allen, Shawn Collins, Todd Crawford, Jeff Doak, Sam Harrelson, and Tim Jones (until a storm knocked him off).
This installment tackled the latest song to drop by rapper Ludacris in honor of Obama, Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska facing a seven-count indictment accusing him of accepting financial gifts that weren’t reported on his financial disclosure forms, and the rumors of a John Edwards love child.
The modest growth of the U.S. economy for the second quarter was debated, as well as a heated discussion on the torture of terrorists.
The RedHatBlueHat crew also talks about whether they’d like to have a beer with Barack Obama or John McCain, the issue of Obama cancelling a visit to wounded U.S. troops in Germany, and what there is to like about John McCain.
Finally, the chat turned to whether polls are accurate at this point, and speculation over Vice-President prospects on both sides.

The New Yorker doesn’t have a corner on the market when it comes to Barack Obama satire.
The Times Online published an entertaining article mocking the Messianic coverage of Barack Obama in Europe.
And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.
The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.
When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: “Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?”
In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.
And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world.

This may sound like a crazy question, but could Barack Obama possibly advocate sex education for Kindergartners?

“I remember him (Alan Keyes, who ran against Obama for Senate in 2004) using this in his campaign against me:
(Mimicking Keyes) ‘Barack Obama supports teaching sex education to kindergartners’
Which — I didn’t know what to tell him (laughter from the Planned Parenthood audience).
But it’s the right thing to do… to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools.”
What in the world is age-appropriate sex education for such young children?
This is disgraceful and I’d have to seriously consider home schooling or investigating private schools if this sort of thing becomes the norm.
Why I am a Republican in 2008
