Welfare Capitalism = Patriotism?
Joe Biden explained the rationale for Americans earning $250,000 or more per year having to pay even more in taxes under the Barack Obama economic plan.
As it stands right now, a married couple filing jointly with a combined salary up to $65,000 per year pays in the 15% tax bracket.
Meanwhile, a married couple filing jointly with a combined salary of $200,000 per year pay in the 33% tax bracket.
So essentially, they second couple already pays 33 cents on each dollar in federal tax, compared with 15 cents for the first couple.
It sort of makes you think they’re trying to discourage us from success, since the IRS asserts such a success penalty.
Anyhow, Barack Obama and Joe Biden don’t think the numbers are imbalanced enough as they are, so they want to slash taxes for the first couple and further increase them for the second one.
Today Biden stated, “It’s time to be patriotic … time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut,” according to the Associated Press.
So, if it is patriotic to have a further redistribution of wealth, also known as welfare capitalism, does Joe Biden think the inverse… paying less taxes for some Americans means they are unpatriotic?
Barack Obama Votes With President Bush
The Barack Obama campaign is running their campaign on the scare tactic that John McCain is the same as President Bush. This assertion is based on Senator McCain’s voting record in 2007 where Team Obama touts that McCain votes with Bush 90% of the time.
But what is Obama failing to say?
First of all, George Bush is not in the Legislative Branch, and doesn’t actually vote on laws with McCain, Obama and Biden.
As you (hopefully) know, Congress votes on bills and they go to the desk of the President to either be signed or vetoed.
So, if we are going to be intellectually honest, nobody is ever voting with President Bush.
The numbers we keep hearing are based on votes where the Bush administration had taken a clear position on before the vote, as estimated by the Congressional Quarterly.
The same report from the Congressional Quarterly reveals that Obama voted “with Bush” 40 percent of the time.
Joe Biden voted “with Bush” 52 percent of the time.
It’s also important to note that these sorts of tallies can only count when a Senator votes yes or no on a law.
Obama didn’t vote over 40 percent of the time since he’s been in the Senate - that’s 228 of the 568 times he could have voted, according to Project Vote Smart.
Rather than taking a stance on issues, he voted “NV”, which means Not Voting, Excused, Absent, or Present.
Based on the Project Vote Smart records, some areas where Obama likes to avoid having an opinion:

I’ve got to wonder how closely aligned Barack Obama would be with Bush if he was showing up and voting for a full work week.
Obama Plagiarizes a Cartoon
There has been a lot of talk about Barack Obama’s speech this past Tuesday when he made the lipstick on a pig crack, but the words that preceded the famous phrase deserve equal distinction, as they were plagiarized, as reported on freerepublic.com.
The following cartoon by Tom Toles was published in the Washington Post on September 5, 2008:

I guess Joe Biden’s knack for plagiarism is rubbing off on Obama.
Joe Biden - the Gaffe Master
The International Herald Tribune (global edition of the New York Times) has chronicled some of the recent gaffes from Barack Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden: “Biden living up to his gaffe-prone reputation“.
Aside from Senator Biden thinking that Hillary is more qualified than him to be Vice President and confusingly referring to Barack Obama as Barack America, here are some other confused remarks from Biden:
- Biden urged a paraplegic state official to stand up.
- “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”
- “You CANNOT go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent … I’m not joking.”
- While reading his vice-presidential acceptance speech from a TelePrompter, Biden messed up John McCain’s name and called him “George” (”Freudian slip, folks, Freudian slip,” he explained).
- Biden refers to Sarah Palin as Lt. Governor of Alaska.

Biden Thinks Hillary Would Make a Better Vice President
Barack Obama might be exploring a switcheroo with his vice presidential nominee. What else could explain why Joe Biden said today that Hillary Clinton might have been a better pick for the position than him, according to ABC News.
At a rally in Nashua, N.H., a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary, “not because she’s a woman, but because, look at the things she did in the past.”
“Make no mistake about this,” Biden responded. “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me.
So much for the old can-do spirit.
Sarah Palin at the Alaskan Republican Roundtable Debate in 2006
Back in 2006, there was an Alaskan Republican Roundtable debate involving some of the Republican candidates for governor: Sarah Palin, then-Governor Frank Murkowski, and former Alaska State Senator John Binkley.
The video runs nearly an hour, and as you can see, Binkley and Murkowski attempted to make it a two-way debate.
However, Sarah Palin was having none of that, and as we all know, she went on to win the primary and general election to become Governor of Alaska.
For those who think she won’t be able to hold up to Joe Biden, this video gives a look at her fabric and what he can expect.
Biden: Election of Palin Would be “backward step for women”
Joe Biden was asked by a local reporter in Milwaukee, WI if he thought that if Governor Palin wins that it would be a step forward for women.
His response…
“Well look, I think the issue is what does Sarah Palin think? What does she believe? I assume she thinks and agrees with the same policies that George Bush and John McCain think, and that’s obviously a backward step for women.”
Is Joe Biden running for Vice President of Bizzaro World, where the code states “Us do opposite of all Earthly things! Us hate beauty! Us love ugliness! Is big crime to make anything perfect on Bizarro World!”
McCain and Palin Win the Popular Vote Over Obama and Biden
The speeches by John McCain and Barack Obama were each viewed by approximately 42.4 million people, and the Republican convention was the most watched on TV ever, according to the Associate Press.
Nielsen Media Research reports that McCain actually beat Obama by 500,000.
And there was no contest between Sarah Palin, who had about 37 million viewers, compared with approximately 24 million for Joe Biden, according to the Guardian.
You’ve got to wonder if Obama is rethinking his running mate.
Joe Biden = Dick Cheney 2.0
Barack Obama’s VP pick, Joe Biden, has a stark similarity to Vice-President Dick Cheney, according to a report from the Associated Press.
In the past, Vice-President Cheney has been roundly criticized for his draft deferments during the Vietnam War.
Well, it turns out that Joe Biden received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, too.
He was ultimately excused from service due to having asthma.
The mainstream media were anxious to tell the story of Cheney’s deferments - how come I haven’t heard about Biden from them?
Democrats Have Buyer’s Remorse
Pundits all around talked about the impact of Hillary Clinton’s speech today and how an Obama-Clinton ticket would probably have a 10 point bump right now.
The crowd went crazy, and Hillary Clinton’s supporters aren’t sold on Obama.
