Obama Lying by Omission

The latest attack ad from Barack Obama on John McCain criticizes McCain for accepting donations from “big oil” and voting for legislation that benefits the oil companies.
The Obama attack ad finishes by saying, “After one President in the pocket of big oil, we can’t afford another.”
But what was most interesting about the advertisement was what Obama didn’t say.
You see, the way he negatively characterized John McCain could just as easily describe Obama and his dealings with the oil companies.
“Barack Obama’s latest negative attack ad shows his celebrity is matched only by his hypocrisy,” McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement. He claimed that Obama himself has taken nearly $400,000 in contributions from employees of oil and natural gas companies, and added that Obama voted yes on a 2005 energy bill that gave tax breaks to oil companies, a measure that McCain rejected, according to NationalJournal.com.
So, I guess by the logic of Senator Obama, he is also “in the pocket of big oil.”
Do Democrats Care About the Gas Crisis?
Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi say they want change - they want to fix the energy crisis.
But if that’s the case, I think Obama out to interrupt Nancy’s R&R to hell her to bring Congress back to begin a process of getting an off-shore drilling bill across the floor of the House.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s because the media ignored it.
Basically, Republicans wanted to get things moving on an off-shore drilling bill, and Nancy Pelosi abruptly closed down the House of Representatives for summer break.
They won’t be back until September 8.
I guess Nancy has more pressing issues like her tanking book sales.

Obama Flip Flops and Now Favors Off-Shore Drilling?
Barack Obama stated yesterday he would be willing to open Florida’s coast for more oil drilling, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Back in June 2008, Obama stated, “We can’t drill our way out of the problem.”
Yet now he’s open to drilling our way out of the problem?
In his interview with The Palm Beach Post, Obama stated, “My interest is in making sure we’ve got the kind of comprehensive energy policy that can bring down gas prices.”
I guess Obama had some time to reflect on the announcement by President George W. Bush, on July 14, 2008, that he would lift the ban on offshore drilling.
After the announcement from President Bush indicated to the world that the U.S. was prepared to take action on the escalating gas prices, the prices of crude oil plummeted.
Crude oil had traded as high as $147 a barrel on July 11. This month, crude oil was at $124.08 a barrel.
So basically, Obama is on the same page with Bush and McCain now?
Democrats Refuse to Help Lower Gas Prices
President Bush took a step to deal with soaring gas prices Monday when he lifted an executive ban on offshore drilling that his stood since his father was president.
Since then, the price of a barrel of oil has continually dropped. This is seen by many as a market response for the over-inflated oil.
Quite simply, if we don’t rely as much on foreign oil, they have less leverage in driving up prices.
Anyhow, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stands firmly against offshore drilling, and unfortunately, the move by Bush will do nothing unless Congress acts as well.
Pelosi and other Democrats are refusing to budge on the grounds that offshore drilling is environmentally unsafe.
However, the Oil in the Water report from the National Academy of Sciences contradicts the environmental argument against drilling offshore.
According to the report, the following factors result in oil seepage into the oceans:
- 1% off shore platforms
- 32% consumers (boats, jet skis, etc.)
- 4% transportation (oil tankers)
- 63% natural seepage – cracks in the earth
Therefore, 99% of seepage is “natural” or essentially unavoidable, and the off shore platforms are not the problem.
Additionally, the U.S. Coast Guard reports the following volumes of U.S. Offshore Oil Spills in the past 38 years:
- 3.6 million barrels from 1970-1980
- 440,000 barrels from 1990-2000
- 1,000 barrels from 2000-2004
What can we infer from this? I’d say it’s safer to drill offshore and pipe it on shore versus having tankers sail all over the world.
By the way, for anybody who is keeping score, Pelosi stated back in April 2006:
“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”
More than two years later, this “commonsense plan” hasn’t been shared.
Meanwhile, gas prices continue to rise. When the Democrats took control of congress in January 2007, the average price per gallon of gas was $2.33.
Now the average is more than $4.00 per gallon.
Is there any wonder that the Congressional approval ratings are at an historic low of 14%?

Obama vs. McCain Energy Policies
There is a new advertisement that compares the energy plans for Obama and McCain.
“John McCain says solve it now. With a balanced plan — alternative energy, conservation, suspending the gas tax, AND more production here at home. He’s pushing his own party to face climate change.
But Barack Obama? For conservation, but he just says no to lower gas taxes. No to nuclear. No to more production. No new solutions. Barack Obama: Just the party line.”
I just don’t get why people see Obama as some agent of change when he’s towing the Democrat line of making complaints, but offering no solutions.
RedHatBlueHat 5: Potential First Ladies as MILFs?
Episode 5 of RedHatBlueHat included the regular cast of Tim Jones, Mike Allen, Sam Harrelson, Shawn Collins and Todd Crawford getting all hot and bothered over the potential first ladies, drilling for oil and the Obama plan to return to failed Clinton practices of prosecuting terrorists.
We discussed how America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, had the following to say about the Obama idea to return to the Clinton plan when it comes to bringing jihadists to trial…
“I also believe that the remarks yesterday that were made by several people in the Obama camp that if (Osama) Bin Laden were taken to Guantanamo, he would be given habeas corpus rights is startling. The reality is that there seems to be more concern about the rights of terrorists or alleged terrorists than the rights that the American people have to safety and security.”
Regarding the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, many of the responsible parties escaped prosecution because of the limits on civilian criminal prosecution.
Same result for the prosecution efforts of the monsters responsible for attacks on the Khobar Towers, the U.S.S. Cole, and the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
It was a toothless plan to treat foreign terrorists like U.S. born shoplifters on September 10, 2001 and we paid a dear price for it.
But like many things Obama, everything old is new again - bad ideas wrapped in new bumper sticker slogans.
We also discussed energy plans and how they contrast. Whereas McCain wants to work towards energy security for a prosperous economy, the Obama plan that focuses on what he doesn’t want and what we can’t do.
The reality is that our economy is tied directly to the availability of diverse domestic energy sources, and McCain is addressing the issue head on.
We talked about how McCain plans to work towards securing our future economy with offshore drilling and the construction of nuclear reactors.
Finally, the gang turns to the issue of which potential First Lady is the hottest. There is some crossing of party lines and surprising picks from both the blue hats and the red hats as things develop. Final verdict is that either way, there will be talk of FLILFs.
Obama and Pelosi: Imperfect Together
On April 24, 2006, Nancy Pelosi stated, “Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”

When I filled up yesterday, I paid more than $4.00 per gallon.
The Pelosi gas promise, which helped Democrats sweep into power, was just another myth. Playing on the hopes and fears of people for political gain.
Sad and typical.
Think about that when Obama promises all sorts of change.

Obama Drives a Gas Guzzler
Barack Obama was stumping in Oregon over the weekend and he lectured to the crowd, “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”
Fair enough. And consistent with a quote on his site about automakers in Detroit:
“Well, I don’t believe that climate change is just an issue that’s convenient to bring up during a campaign. I believe it’s one of the greatest moral challenges of our generation. That’s why I’ve fought successfully in the Senate to increase our investment in renewable fuels. That’s why I reached across the aisle to come up with a plan to raise our fuel standards… And I didn’t just give a speech about it in front of some environmental audience in California. I went to Detroit, I stood in front of a group of automakers, and I told them that when I am president, there will be no more excuses — we will help them retool their factories, but they will have to make cars that use less oil.”
