This one isn’t directly Obama related, though it does take aim at the author of his favorite summer novel, Scott McClellan.

Former Senate majority leader and 1996 Republican presidential candidate dropped a note to the bitter McClellan, who was fired from the Bush administration, calling him a “miserable creature” for his book that has topped the bestseller list for liberals.

“There are miserable creatures like you in every administration who don’t have the guts to speak up or quit if there are disagreements with the boss or colleagues,” the five-term Kansas senator wrote to McClellan. “No, your type soaks up the benefits of power, revels in the limelight for years, then quits, and spurred on by greed, cashes in with a scathing critique.”

Obama Quits Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago

The Associated Press reports that Barack Obama has resigned his 20 year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and more recent fiery remarks at the church by Father Michael Pfleger.

You would never know from the raucous, positive receptions Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Father Michael Pfleger received that their racist, hateful words were anomalies at the Trinity United Church of Christ.

That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don’t know if I can do it
Oh no I’ve said too much
I haven’t said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Obama never witnessed such hate speech in the 20 years he was a member of the church.

They must have only conducted such offensive speeches on days he was absent. Yeah, right.

Every whisper
Of every waking hour I’m
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool
Oh no I’ve said too much
I set it up

Oprah Winfrey was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ from 1984 to 1986, and she continued to attend off and on into the early to the mid-1990s.

She left for good due in part to some of the sermons of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I’ve said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
