Obama and Pelosi: Imperfect Together
On April 24, 2006, Nancy Pelosi stated, “Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.”
More than two years later, and that commonsense plan still hasn’t been revealed.
Meanwhile, gas prices continue to rise. When the Democrats took control of congress in January 2007, the average price per gallon of gas was $2.33.
When I filled up yesterday, I paid more than $4.00 per gallon.
The Pelosi gas promise, which helped Democrats sweep into power, was just another myth. Playing on the hopes and fears of people for political gain.
Sad and typical.
Think about that when Obama promises all sorts of change.

Another Day, Another Hateful Preacher at Obama’s Church
Introducing Father Michael Pfleger, another friend of Obama who, like Reverend Wright, surely never said anything of this sort in the company of Obama.
Pfleger was on the advisory board for Obama’s campaign and has been referred to by Barack Obama as a “key source of spiritual guidance.”
Father Pfleger was speaking at Trinity United (aka Obama’s church) during an “Hour of Power” Sunday service dedicated to a “sacred conversation on race.”

Again, Obama had to issue a statement to try and explain away one of his associations:
“As I have traveled this country, I’ve been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which does not reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.”
Barack sure has an interesting assortment of friends.
Maybe there should be a betting pool on the next skeleton to come out of Barack’s closet.
Obama the One-Man Gaffe Machine
Democrats love to highlight each and every gaffe from President Bush, just as they did with Dan Quayle and Ronald Reagan.
Despite volumes of goofs by the likes of Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama, the mainstream media doesn’t seem to be as curious about reporting their lies, mistakes, and malapropisms.
So it was refreshing to see a recap of recent Obama gaffes in the Wall Street Journal today.
The article points out a list of Obama’s greatest, recent hits, like his uncle who liberated Auschwitz, how the U.S. has 57 states, and that Iran doesn’t prove to be a serious threat.

Obama Defeats Clinton
No, I’m not talking about the Democratic primary here - Obama won the prestigious title of most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal’s 27th annual vote ratings.
Hillary was way back at #16 in the tally for the most liberal senator.
Many people wonder what Obama has actually accomplished in his political career. Well this is something - he went from 16th most liberal in 2005 to 10th most liberal in 2006.
And now he’s got sole possession of the title.
By the way, John Kerry was the most liberal senator in 2003.

Obama and Status Quo Politics
Obama has a quote placed prominently on his site about the change he plans to bring.
“I’m asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change to Washington… I’m asking you to believe in yours.”
He talks about change, but has he changed from the good old days in Chicago?
According to CNN in a piece, “Obama played hardball in first Chicago campaign,” Obama employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers in an early race.
One of those he drummed out of the race via technicalities was incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist.
This enabled Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.
“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”
Has Obama changed into a more civil candidate, or is his rhetoric “just words”?
RedHatBlueHat 2: Et tu, Brute?
The second episode of the RedHatBlueHat political podcast featured Todd Crawford, Tim Jones, Shawn Collins, Mike Allen and Sam Harrelson.
This week we touched on Obama’s favorite new book, “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception,” by former Bush loyalist, Scott McClellan.
We also talked about gas prices, how to bring them down, and wondered why Nancy Pelosi’s plan to solve the gas issue, touted by her in 2006, still hasn’t materialized.
Then we moved on to the Democrat mess in Florida and Michigan and whether every vote will count.
Plus, some speculation over VP candidates for both parties.
Then there was a chat on the impact of Hillary making the RFK assassination comment last week, and the way the mainstream media neglected to mention Obama’s allusion to a Hillary assassination.
Lastly, we touched on the need to lower spending by the Federal government, and Obama’s latest gaffe regarding his “uncle” liberating Auschwitz.

Barack Obama Likes to Waste Money
I don’t know about you, but when we go over the budget in my house, we go with a practical approach - we live within our means.
If there is something we want, but we cannot afford it, then we just don’t get it. In essence, we cut our spending.
In government, it works a bit different, at least for Barack Obama.
He’s one of the big spenders of our money when it comes to earmarks. Earmarks, also known as pork barrel, are the appropriation of government spending for projects intended primarily to benefit the home state or campaign contributors of a politician.
In 2007, Obama has $91 million in earmarks for Illinois and his friends.
John McCain takes a different approach. On April 15 in Pittsburgh, here is what McCain had to say about this wasteful spending:
“There will be no more subsidies for special pleaders — no more corporate welfare — no more throwing around billions of dollars of the people’s money on pet projects, while the people themselves are struggling to afford their homes, groceries, and gas.
I will veto every bill with earmarks, until the Congress stops sending bills with earmarks.
I will seek a constitutionally valid line-item veto to end the practice once and for all.
We will institute a one-year pause in discretionary spending increases with the necessary exemption of military spending and veterans’ benefits.”
