The media thought it was so great that Barack Obama was open about his previous illegal drug use.

As a parent, I am not so enamoured by a Presidential candidate that celebrates illegal activity.

But Obama wasn’t always so willing to share the details of his drug use.

Back in 2003, when he was running for U.S. Senate, he sat down for a chat with Bernard Schoenburg, of the State Journal-Register of Springfield, IL.

State Sen. BARACK OBAMA, D-Chicago, who is running for U.S. Senate, didn’t tell all when recently asked about any past use of illegal drugs.

I know that because I found out more information in a 1995 book (Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance) by - guess who - Barack Obama.

Obama admitted to using marijuana in high school to the reporter, but when asked if he had tried any other illegal drugs, Obama said, “That’ll suffice.”

Here is what he wrote in his book…

“I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. …”

For anybody that doesn’t know, “blow” is cocaine and “smack” is heroin.

So, Obama tried to cover up his previous admission of cocaine use; he’s still such an honest and straightforward guy, right?
